Warm snacks are perfect for the chilly fall days. We love to cuddle up and have something to snack on, especially if we can make a delicious fall flavored WARM SNACK. Here are just a few that we love making and we would like to share with you!
1. MAPLE CHAI APPLE CEREALS
This is probably the quickest and easiest cosy fall snack you can make. You just have to warm up some nut milk, add in your healthier cereals, maybe an apple too, and some chai spice and you’re done!
Ingredients:
-1 cup nut milk of choice (we used coconut – almond)
-1 healthier cereals of choice (we love the buckwheat maple flavored ones)
-1 small apple cut into bite sizes
-chai spice (or cinnamon if you don’t like chai)
-drizzle of maple syrup
Instructions:
1. Heat up the milk and pour it in a bowl.
2. Add in your healthier cereals of choice.
3. Cut your apple in bite sizes and add in the bowl.
4. Sprinkle some chai spice or cinnamon, or just skip this step.
5. Drizzle some maple syrup, stir and you’re ready to enjoy!
2. SALTED CARAMEL POPCORN
This recipe is similar to the maple chai popcorn one in our last fall snacks video. We prefer making our own popcorn because sometimes the ones you have to pop in the microwave oven are just not the cleanest if I may. This way you can always control the amount of salt and other spices you add in.
Ingredients:
-1 cup corn kernels
-1 – 2 teaspoon of coconut oil
-100 g butter
-1/2 cup coconut sugar
-1/2 cup maple syrup
-sea salt
-vanilla extract
Instructions:
1.To make homemade popcorn simply heat up a pot, add in the corn kernels with the coconut oil and cover the pot. It will take a few minutes until they all pop, be patient. Take off the pot from the heat.
2.To make the salty caramel sauce melt the butter, add in the coconut sugar, maple syrup and salt. Use as much salt as you’d like but don’t overdo it.
3.Let it simmer for a few minutes then add in your vanilla extract or powder. Use as much as you want. Stir to combine.
4.Let simmer for a few more minutes until it thickens. Take it off the heat.
5.Add your popcorn to the sauce and gently stir to coat every popcorn.
6.Take a baking tray lined with silicone baking sheet or parchment paper and transfer the popcorn on it.
7.Bake at 170 C degrees for about 45 – 50 minutes and make sure to stir every 10 – 15 minutes to prevent from burning and to bake them on each side.
8.Let them cool a bit, then tear them apart if sticked together. They might be a little wet and not crunchy at first, but when cooled a little they will achieve the perfect texture.
3. CHAI SPICED APPLE CRANBERRY OATMEAL
If oatmeal is not your favorite thing to eat at all, maybe you can give this one a chance and you will change your mind. Here’s how to make it, and remember that you can customize it however you want!
Ingredients:
-equal amount of oats and nut milk of choice
-1 ripe banana
-1 apple cut into bite sizes
-fresh or frozen cherries
-fresh or frozen cranberries
-chai spice
Instructions:
1.In a pot heat up 1 cup of nut milk of your choice, same amount of oats and 1 mashed banana. The banana will make the oatmeal creamier and adds in some nutrients.
2.While the mixture is heating up, cut the apple into bite sizes.
3.When it starts to simmer, add in the apples and simmer for a few minutes.
4.You can then add in your cranberries and cherries, or fruit of your choice.
5.Cook for about 5-7 more minutes.
6.Transfer into a bowl and decorate with cranberries, chai spice, maybe a drizzle of maple syrup. Customize it to your taste.
4. RICE PUMPKIN PUDDING
We actually purchased this pudding from Vegis.ro because it sounded interesting. Fall flavored pudding, what could be better? It’s made out of great ingredients. So basically if you can find something similar, just follow the instructions on the package. We used coconut – almond milk from Alpro to make it and we spiced it up with some vanilla powder and coconut sugar instead of regular, processed white sugar. And the best part was topping it with toasted almond flaked. They add such a great taste and crunch!
Ingredients:
-1 pack of rice pumpkin pudding (or similar)
-500 ml nut milk of choice (we used coconut - almond)
-1 1 tablespoon of coconut sugar
-vanilla powder
-toasted almond flakes for topping
Instructions:
1.Prepare the pudding according to the package. But to make it healthier use nut milk instead of regular milk and coconut sugar instead of white sugar.
2.You can add in some vanilla powder for extra flavor.
3.When it’s thick, transfer into smaller bowls and top with toasted almond flakes and chai spice or cinnamon.
5. BAKED MAPLE PEARS
These are the ultimate fall snack. So flavorful, tender, sweet, you have to make a big batch of these! You could also use apples instead of pears, but they might not turn out so soft. We topped them with cream cheese, but you can also use greek yogurt or just granola.
Ingredients:
-pears (as many as you wish)
-maple syrup
-vanilla powder
-chai spice
-cream cheese
-granola
Instructions:
1.Preheat the oven to 190 C.
2.In a small bowl combine some maple syrup (about 2-3 tablespoons), vanilla powder and chai spice, and stir well to combine.
3.Cut your pears in half, cut off a piece from the bottom to be able to sit flat on the baking sheet, and using an ice cream scoop or a spoon core out the seeds.
4.Place them on a baking tray and drizzle with the maple mixture.
5.Bake them at 190 C for about 6 minutes.
6.Top with cream cheese or greek yogurt, granola or whatever you prefer.
7.Serve warm, they are so delicious!
6. MAPLE CHAI APPLE TACOS
We wanted to try out this recipe for so long! It looked very interesting and mouthwatering so we went for it. And we can tell you that it couldn’t be easier to make them. We love the crunchiness of the taco shells, the sweetness of the apple filling, the creaminess of the cream cheese on top.. absolutely worth a try!
Ingredients:
-plain tortilla wraps
-3 tablespoons coconut sugar
-30 g butter, melted
-graham crackers, crushed (optional)
-apples (about 3 – 4 medium ones)
-chai spice
-maple syrup
-cream cheese
Instructions:
1.Let’s prepare the apple filling first. For this simply chop up the apples and add them to a saucepan with a little water, not too much! Cover the lid and simmer for about 10 minutes until they get tender.
2.Add in the chai spice and maple syrup. We usually eyeball these, but it would be aprox. 3 tablespoons of maple syrup and max. 1 tablespoon of chai spice.
3.Cook for another 5 minutes, basically until it thickens.
4.Preheat oven to 200 C.
5.Using a larger cookie cutter (or a glass as we did in the video) cut out circles from the tortilla wraps. This really depends on you how much you want to make. We ended up with about 12.
6.In a larger bowl mix together the melted butter, coconut sugar and crushed graham crackers.
7.Coat each tortilla circle well. It is easier to use your hands, even if it gets messy, you can control the process.
8.Invert a muffin tin and place each tortilla circle between the cups to form a taco shape.
9.Bake them at 200 C for about 6 minutes until they turn golden brown.
10.Allow to cool a bit then fill each taco with the apple filling.
11.Top with cream cheese, greek yogurt, or leave them as they are. Enjoy!
